Guadalajara, Mexico – Los Leones del Escogido, representing the Dominican Republic, demonstrated their power by defeating the Cangrejeros de Santurce of Puerto Rico 5-3 in the Caribbean Series Jalisco 2026. With this victory, the Dominicans maintain their undefeated record in the tournament. Left-hander Enny Romero was key in the triumph, pitching five solid innings and allowing only three hits. This performance led the Dominican Republic to their second victory without defeats (2-0), positioning them at the top of the table. Puerto Rico, for its part, now has a record of 1-1. The Lions’ offense ignited from the start, scoring three runs in the first inning against starting pitcher Daryl Thompson. Gustavo Núñez, Sócrates Brito, and Junior Lake led the attack, with Lake driving in the first run. Cristian Adames hit a double that drove in two runs, and Aderlin Rodriguez contributed with a sacrifice fly. In the second inning, Erik González drove in another run with a double. Adames stood out again in the fifth inning with another double, bringing Lake to the plate for the fifth Dominican run. Puerto Rico tried to react with three runs in the sixth inning, but it wasn’t enough to change the course of the game. Jimmy Cordero secured the victory by pitching the ninth inning, earning his second save of the tournament. Cristian Adames was the most outstanding offensive player for the Dominicans, batting 3-2 with two doubles and two RBIs. Junior Lake also had an outstanding performance, while Socrates Brito hit a triple. For Puerto Rico, Yohandí Morales shone with a 5-3. The Leones del Escogido will return to the field on Wednesday to face the Federales de Chiriquí from Panama.
