Djokovic Successfully Starts His US Open 2025 Journey
The Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, currently ranked number 7 in the ATP ranking, debuted with a resounding victory at the US Open 2025. He defeated the American Learner Tien (No. 48) in straight sets, demonstrating his great level on the court.
The final score of the match was 6-1, 7-6(3) and 6-2, after a match that lasted just over two hours at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Djokovic dominated the first set, closing it in just 24 minutes. Although the second set was more contested, it was decided in favor of the Serbian in a tiebreak. During this stretch, he requested medical assistance for discomfort in his right foot, but managed to continue without problems.
In the third set, after an adverse start with a break against him, the former world number 1 reacted and secured the victory in straight sets, a key strategy to conserve energy for the following rounds.
Djokovic arrived at Flushing Meadows without having played previous matches on hard courts this season, as he did not participate in the Masters 1000 of Toronto and Cincinnati. This victory represents an important boost to his confidence.
The Serbian tennis player is seeking his fifth title at the US Open, which would allow him to equal Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer as the top male champions of the tournament in the Open Era.
With 91 victories at the US Open, Djokovic is in second place historically, only surpassed by Jimmy Connors (98). In addition, he has 393 victories in Grand Slam tournaments, consolidating his supremacy in the history of tennis.
In this edition, Djokovic aims to become the first player to reach 25 Grand Slam singles titles, an unprecedented record.
His next challenge will be in the second round, where he will face the American Zachary Svajda (No. 143), who defeated the Hungarian Zsombor Piros (No. 156) by 6-4, 6-2 and 7-5.
