Adrián del Castillo leads the Diamondbacks to victory over the Orioles

BALTIMORE – Adrián del Castillo starred with five RBIs, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to an 8-5 victory in 10 innings against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

Del Castillo, Diamondbacks catcher, was key in the victory, hitting a two-run home run that broke the tie. In addition, he added the first triple of his career, contributing significantly to the offense that secured the victory in extra innings.

The Diamondbacks concluded a successful nine-game road trip with a 6-3 record, outperforming the Mets, Phillies, and Orioles in their respective series. Corbin Carroll also stood out during this trip, hitting two doubles and scoring twice.

In the tenth inning, Arizona put together a three-run rally that proved decisive. Venezuelan Ildemaro Vargas started with a bunt that turned into a hit, extending his streak of consecutive games with a hit to 12, a franchise record for the start of the season. Subsequently, he scored after a single by Nolan Arenado, extending the lead.

The previous tie occurred in the sixth inning, when Alek Thomas drove in a run with a groundout, tying the score at 4-4 in a game that remained contested for much of the game.

Ryan Thompson secured the victory from the mound, after pitching a perfect ninth inning that forced extra innings. Juan Morillo, also Venezuelan, secured his second save in the Major Leagues by retiring the three batters he faced in the tenth inning.

Despite the irregular outing of starting pitcher Eduardo Rodríguez, who allowed four runs in five innings, the Diamondbacks managed to prevail thanks to their timely offense and the solid performance of their bullpen.

With this result, Arizona continues to demonstrate consistency in close games, improving its record in decisive encounters and consolidating a productive road trip.
