Santo Domingo – The Court of First Instance of the National District, acting as a judge of referrals, dismissed the lawsuit filed by players Enmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz against the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (Lidom) and its president.
Rejection of the Lawsuit
The athletes sought the suspension of the decision that prevented their registration to play with the Estrellas Orientales in the Autumn-Winter Tournament 2025-2026. In addition, they requested immediate inclusion in the team’s roster. Additionally, the players requested a penalty of RD$100,000 daily against Lidom and its president for each day of delay in their registration. This request was also rejected by the court.This article grants the League’s president the power to make decisions on matters not covered in the regulations, on a provisional basis until ratified or revoked by the Board of Directors. The decision is outlined in Civil Ordinance No. 504-2025-5ORD-2378. Lidom trusts that the same criteria will be applied in the other legal actions initiated by Clase and Ortiz.The magistrate based his decision on article 56 of the Lidom 2025-2026 Tournament Regulations.
