Cibao FC defeats Salcedo FC in the LDF
SALCEDO.- A goal by Colombian Kleimar Mosquera was enough for Cibao FC to defeat Salcedo FC 1-0 in matchday 8 of the Liguilla of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF). The match, played at the Domingo Polonia stadium, was dedicated to the memory of doctor José Rafael Abinader. Cibao FC, with this victory, adds 3 crucial points, reaching a total of 17 and consolidating at the top of the table, heading towards the semi-final. The match remained scoreless for 81 minutes. Mosquera took advantage of a rebound in the area to send the ball to the back of the net. Edwin Frías, goalkeeper for Cibao FC and native of Salcedo, had an outstanding performance, thwarting the offensive attempts of the home team. The first half ended in a scoreless draw. The second half was delayed by heavy rain that affected the playing field, hindering the development of the match. Cibao FC’s goal came in the 81st minute. Jean Carlos López made a powerful shot that goalkeeper Cristian Severino managed to touch, but the rebound fell to Mosquera, who did not forgive. Edwin “Gato” Frías was the starting goalkeeper for Cibao FC, under the direction of coach Junior Scheldeur. Jean Carlos López wore the captain’s armband in the absence of Miguel Lloyd.
