Carrefour 10K: A Race with a Cause that Gathers 3,500 Runners

The twelfth edition of the 10K Carrefour race is ready to ignite the passion for sports on Sunday, April 26, with the participation of 3,500 runners. Carrefour organizers announced that registrations closed upon reaching the established goal, demonstrating the great interest that this competition generates. The race will start at 7:00 a.m. from Downtown Center, located on Núñez de Cáceres Avenue corner with Rómulo Betancourt. The athletes will face a new route that will take them through Anacaona and Jiménez Moya avenues, descending towards the Santo Domingo boardwalk, until reaching the finish line on George Washington Avenue, at the height of Vista del Mar park, thus completing the 10 kilometers. This sporting event has an important social component, as it supports the Amigos contra el Cáncer Infantil, Inc. (FACCI) Foundation and the Oír para Vivir Foundation.

The 10K Carrefour race supports the work of the Friends Against Childhood Cancer Foundation (FACCI), and the Oír para vivir Foundation.

Carrefour 10K Organization
The FACCI is a non-profit organization, founded by a group of volunteers committed to the well-being of children and adolescents fighting cancer. For its part, the Oír para Vivir Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with hearing disabilities in vulnerable situations. The runners will compete in the Overall Male and Female categories, as well as age divisions: 16 to 19 years old, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 or more, and wheelchair participants. The participants, who registered through the SDCTickets portal (www.sdctickets.do) or in person at Carrefour establishments, received a kit that included the official Dry-Fit t-shirt, a bib number/BIB, a timing chip, an official bag, and items from the sponsors. The registration cost 1,900.00 pesos, a percentage of which goes to the Friends Against Childhood Cancer Foundation (FACCI) and the Oír para Vivir Foundation, as part of Carrefour’s social responsibility program. The Carrefour 10K race is organized by Carrefour Dominicana, with the logistics of Santo Domingo Corre and has the support of important brands such as Sura, Gatorade, Altice, Banreservas, Nestlé and Downtown Center, among others.
