SANTO DOMINGO – The Tigres del Licey suffered another defeat this Sunday, falling 5-4 to the Estrellas Orientales at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium. This result extends their losing streak to five consecutive games in the 2025-26 season of the Dominican Baseball League. With a 9-16 record, the blue team continues to struggle at the bottom of the table, seeking to regain their best form in a season that offers no respite.

A bittersweet ending

The game was defined in the ninth inning, when a hit by Robinson Canó left the Tigers on the field. Left-handed pitcher Andrew Pérez (0-1, 6.75) was the one who took the loss, after conceding a base and allowing the hit that sealed the result. The opener for the Licey was César Valdez, who pitched for 4.2 innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs, one walk and striking out two batters.

Prominent Licey Figures

Despite the defeat, several Licey players had outstanding performances:

  • Armando Álvarez: 4-2, double, one run scored
  • Luis Campusano: 5-1, home run, one run scored and two RBIs
  • Michael de la Cruz: 4-2, double and two RBIs
The team’s offense kept the game close, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Stars’ performance. The Tigres will return to the field this Monday, facing the Toros del Este at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium at 7:30 p.m., hoping to end their losing streak and get back on the road to victory.
