Cal Raleigh Confirms His Participation in the Home Run Derby 2025
The Seattle Mariners’ star catcher, Cal Raleigh, has confirmed his participation in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby 2025, which will be held on July 14 at Truist Park in Atlanta, as part of the Major League All-Star Game. Raleigh, who currently leads the Majors with 32 home runs, joins Ronald Acuña Jr. as the first confirmed for this power event.Raleigh’s participation will have a special component, as his father, Todd Raleigh, will be in charge of pitching to him during the competition, and his younger brother, Todd Jr., will be behind the plate receiving the pitches. Originally from North Carolina and raised in the Atlanta metropolitan area, Raleigh considers participating in this event to be “closing a circle.” In addition, the player hinted at the possibility of batting from both sides of the plate, something only Adley Rutschman has achieved in the past. With a standout first half of the season, Raleigh has set historical records for catchers and switch-hitters, solidifying himself as a strong contender for the American League MVP. Raleigh will become the eighth Mariners player to participate in the Derby, following in the footsteps of legends like Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martínez, Alex Rodríguez, and Julio Rodríguez. Griffey is the only player in this group who has won the event, and Raleigh aspires to be the first catcher to achieve it. The event, which promises excitement and power, will be a highlight of the All-Star Game Week, concluding on July 15 with the Mid-Season Classic. It will be a movie moment. Being able to experience this with family is something I will never forget.
