Baseball Clinics for Kids: A Legacy of the 2026 World Baseball Classic
The Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOBE), along with the board of directors of the National Team that will participate in the 2026 World Baseball Classic and Major League Baseball (MLB), have announced an ambitious program of baseball clinics nationwide. This initiative, focused on community impact and sports legacy, is aimed at children and young talents. The sessions are designed for children between 8 and 10 years old. They will feature the participation of prominent Major League players, coaches, and members of the Dominican team’s technical staff. Participants will have the opportunity to learn firsthand, sharing experiences, knowledge, and essential fundamentals of the game in a formative and motivating environment. The program will be developed during the month of January, with four key dates that will benefit approximately 990 children from different regions of the country.- January 9: Baní Municipal Stadium (South Region).
- January 16: Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macorís (East Region).
- January 24: Santiago (Cibao Region).
- January 29: Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium (National District and Santo Domingo province).
Nelson Cruz, general manager of the Dominican Republic national team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, emphasized the social importance of these clinics and their connection to the passion that the tournament generates in the country. He highlighted that the initiative seeks to inspire children, bring them closer to their role models, and show them that, with discipline and effort, they can achieve their goals. Juan Núñez, president of FEDOBE, highlighted that this project is part of an integral vision to strengthen Dominican baseball from its foundations, strengthening the ties between the national team and the communities. Miguel Matos, director of the MLB office in the Dominican Republic, reaffirmed Major League Baseball’s support for early training programs, noting that these actions contribute to the ongoing development of baseball in the country. These clinics are integrated into the agenda of activities prior to the 2026 World Baseball Classic, which also includes preparation games for the Dominican team.“The goal is to inspire children, bring them closer to their idols, and show them that with discipline and effort they can achieve their dreams.”
