Santiago, Dominican Republic – In an emotional commemorative act of the 93 years of history of the Águilas Cibaeñas, the executive president of the Banco de Reservas de la República Dominicana, doctor Leonardo Aguilera, presented a special recognition to Winston Llenas, a legend of Dominican baseball.
A Tribute to the Career of “Chilote” Llenas
The ceremony, which took place at the Banreservas Cultural Center, celebrated the outstanding sporting and leadership career of Llenas, known as “Chilote”, an emblematic figure of the Cibao team and Dominican professional baseball.
Aguilera highlighted Llenas’ extraordinary career, a symbol of discipline, leadership, and pride for national sports.
Upon receiving the distinction, he expressed his gratitude to the Reserve Bank. He indicated that the recognition is an honor for him and for the Águilas Cibaeñas, the team to which he has dedicated a large part of his life.
In the event, Dr. Carmen Alicia Quijano de Aguilera, president of Voluntariado Banreservas, was also present, along with former baseball players, athletes, and personalities linked to baseball who shared with Llenas during his career.
This tribute is part of a special activity to highlight the history and legacy of the Águilas Cibaeñas, one of the most emblematic teams of Dominican professional baseball, which has been a sporting benchmark in the Cibao region for more than nine decades.
