Alcaraz Advances with Authority at the Australian Open
Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, currently number one in the world, demonstrated his superiority on the court this Friday, securing his place in the round of 16 of the Australian Open after defeating Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
Alcaraz, with a dominant game, won with partials of 6-2, 6-4 and 6-1, consolidating his advance in the tournament.
The match, although mostly controlled by the Spaniard, had a moment of tension in the second set. Moutet, number 32 in the ranking and a new rival for Alcaraz, managed to break the Spaniard’s serve, coming back from a 3-0 deficit to go up 4-3. However, Alcaraz responded with determination, winning three consecutive games to close the set with a 6-4.
In the next round, Alcaraz will face American Tommy Paul.
Paul advanced to the next phase due to the withdrawal of the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich, who suffered physical discomfort.
Davidovich was forced to abandon his third-round match due to a left thigh injury, when the score was in Paul’s favor with 6-1 and 6-1.
