Ohtani Continues to Write His Name in Baseball History

DENVER – Shohei Ohtani continues to demonstrate his extraordinary talent on the diamond. The Japanese star extended his streak of consecutive games reaching base to 51 last Sunday, after hitting a run-scoring double to right field in the third inning against Colorado Rockies pitcher Michael Lorenzen. With this outstanding performance, Ohtani moves into sole possession of third place on the Dodgers’ all-time list, surpassing “Wee” Willie Keeler’s mark. Ohtani’s impressive streak began on August 24, 2025, and he is now only two games away from tying Shawn Green’s record, who reached base in 53 consecutive games in the year 2000.
  • The franchise record belongs to Duke Snider, with 58 games in 1954.
  • Ron Cey completes the Top 5 with a streak of 47 between 1975 and 1976.

At the Major League level, Ohtani’s streak also stands out in recent times, being the fourth longest in the last 20 years. He is just one game away from Kevin Millar and Shin-Soo Choo, who achieved 52 consecutive games reaching base in 2007 and 2018, respectively. Since 2005, the longest streak belongs to Colombian Orlando Cabrera, with 63 games in 2006.

The all-time MLB record since at least 1900 remains in the hands of the legendary Ted Williams, who reached base in 84 games in 1949.
