YPF marks a financial milestone with a record issuance of 1.2 billion dollars

The Argentine oil company YPF has achieved a historic milestone in the international capital market by completing the issuance of corporate debt bonds worth 1.2 billion dollars. This operation represents the largest fundraising carried out by an Argentine company abroad in the last decade, consolidating investor support for the company’s current management.

The success of the placement, maturing in 2035 with an effective annual interest rate of 7.85%, was ratified after an intense day of meetings in New York. The oil company received offers reaching 2.2 billion dollars, notably exceeding initial financing expectations.

Demand reached 2.2 billion dollars. Almost double what we set out to seek. This is a huge sign of the confidence the market has in our company, in our present, and in the future we are building.

Growth strategy and debt optimization

According to the official information provided by the company, the resources obtained have two key strategic objectives to strengthen its financial position:

  • Early cancellation of international negotiable obligations maturing between 2027 and 2029, thereby significantly improving the maturity profile and extending the average life of the debt.
  • Financing of the company’s ambitious operational growth plan.

This transaction featured the participation of prominent global financial entities, including BBVA, Itaú, JP Morgan, Santander, and Balanz, who acted as placement agents in the international market.

The impact of YPF on the energy sector

YPF, a company in which the Argentine State maintains a majority shareholding, remains the main operator in Vaca Muerta, the most relevant unconventional formation in southwestern Argentina. The company continues to lead large-scale projects focused on the export of crude oil and liquefied natural gas, fundamental areas for the national economy.

In terms of performance, the oil company exhibited robust financial health during the first half of the year, reporting a net profit of 1.614 billion dollars. This result marks exponential growth compared to the 48 million dollars recorded in the same period of the previous year, reflecting efficient management and a favorable environment for its operations on the New York and Buenos Aires stock exchanges.
