Countdown to TBS District 2026: Everything ready for the Golden Anniversary
The excitement of Dominican superior basketball is in the air. The Basketball Association of the National District (Abadina) kicked off the activities leading up to the Superior Basketball Tournament (TBS Distrito 2026), a historic edition that celebrates its 50 years of existence, also known as the Golden Anniversary.
The inaugural event, presented in a special podcast format, brought together the delegates of the eight franchises that will compete for glory this season. The meeting served to warm up the engines ahead of the upcoming tip-off, officially scheduled for next Tuesday the 15th at 7:30 PM at the iconic Arena BanReservas, the Virgilio Travieso Soto Sports Palace.
A meeting of legends and strategies
The hosting of the space was under the responsibility of José Manuel Rodríguez and Jonathan Betances, with high-level technical production by La Cabina Studio and FHM Production. From the court of the “Media Naranja,” the club representatives shared crucial details about the formation of their rosters, making it clear that the common goal is to lift the championship trophy.
The delegates present who will represent their institutions were:

- Nathanael Mercedes (El Millón)
- Héctor Junior Gil (Los Prados)
- Milton Díaz (San Lázaro)
- Claudio Méndez (Huellas del Siglo)
- Miguel Merejo (Rafael Barias)
- Agustín Espinoza (San Carlos)
- José “Boyón” Domínguez (Mauricio Báez, current champions)
The tournament organization is backed by the Organizing Committee, led by the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Andrés Bautista, together with the president of Abadina, Edwin Castillo (Tatico), and commissioner Nelson Ramírez, who have worked hard to ensure the success of this special edition.
On the technical side, the responsibility will once again fall on Ramón Ceballos, national technical director of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal), thus guaranteeing the standards of quality and professionalism that a tournament of this magnitude requires. Fans are already counting the hours to enjoy a season that promises to be unforgettable.
