The Senate of the Republic holds a session in Bonao for the 44th anniversary of Monseñor Nouel
In an event of great institutional relevance, the Senate of the Republic moved its ordinary session to the municipality of Bonao, Monseñor Nouel province. The session, held at the CURCE-UASD, was part of the commemorative activities for the 44th anniversary of the creation of this province, bringing together legislators and local authorities in a historic meeting.
The session was led by the President of the Upper House, Ricardo de los Santos, and was attended by 24 senators. The senator for Monseñor Nouel, Héctor Acosta, was the main promoter of this initiative, seeking to highlight the province’s value on the national agenda through the decentralization of legislative work.
A meeting with the citizenry and a posthumous tribute
During the session, legislators followed up on various bills, moving the operations of the National Congress directly to the territory. In addition, the Senate plenary dedicated a moment of solemnity by observing a minute of silence in memory of Zeneida Socorro Castillo, wife of the artist Julián Oro Duro, who recently passed away in an incident that occurred in Santo Domingo Este.
This initiative allows Monseñor Nouel to be placed on a national stage, while bringing an activity of institutional relevance to the provincial territory.

The President of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, emphasized that the fundamental purpose of these sessions in the provinces is for the population to learn firsthand about the functioning of the Legislative Branch. Citizens had the opportunity to observe how initiatives that impact the country’s development are presented and debated, fostering greater transparency and connection between senators and civil society.
