Juventud Caribe and FEFLAS reject extrajudicial executions and demand comprehensive public policies
In a joint statement, the organizations Juventud Caribe and the Flavio Suero Student Front (FEFLAS) have expressed their full support for the National Commission for Human Rights regarding recent reports of an increase in extrajudicial executions. The groups noted their deep concern over “trigger-happy” practices attributed to members of the National Police during operations against individuals accused of criminal activities.
Youth organizations warned about an alleged media manipulation campaign aimed at discrediting those who defend citizen guarantees. According to the groups, certain sectors are attempting to capitalize on the population’s fear and desperation regarding insecurity to justify excessive use of force, seeking to grant a sort of “blank check” to law enforcement agents.
Granting ‘carte blanche’ to the National Police for the execution of real or alleged criminals on streets and roads, in addition to being contrary to the laws and the Constitution of the Republic, puts the lives of innocent citizens at risk.

Risks to democracy and social security
Juventud Caribe and FEFLAS stressed that legitimizing mechanisms of repression outside the law represents a direct threat to the country’s social and political fabric. According to their representatives, history has shown that these practices often lead to persecution against community leaders, activists, and young people who raise their voices in educational and neighborhood settings.
- Warning about the danger of normalizing state violence.
- Rejection of the violation of due process and fundamental rights.
- Historical memory as a tool of resistance against intolerant regimes.
In conclusion to their message, the groups made a formal call to the Executive Branch to abandon populist stances regarding security. Instead, they urged the central government to implement substantive public policies that manage to eradicate the structural causes that originate criminality in Dominican society.
