Víctor Pichardo is appointed as the new Dominican consul in Puerto Rico
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, has made official the appointment of Víctor Nicolás Pichardo Custodio as the new Consul General of the Dominican Republic in Puerto Rico. Pichardo, who until now served as Executive Director of the Airport Department (DA), assumes this strategic position within the framework of the administrative changes carried out by the Executive Branch this August 16th.
Since his arrival at the helm of the Airport Department in August 2020, Pichardo focused on boosting national aeronautical infrastructure and optimizing the country’s air connectivity levels. His management has been recognized for its focus on logistical development and the modernization of Dominican airport terminals.
Importance of consular management
Pichardo’s new responsibility at the Consulate General in San Juan is of significant importance, given that Puerto Rico represents one of the key hubs for the Dominican diaspora. The relationship between both territories is fundamental, encompassing key pillars such as:
- Strengthening bilateral trade ties.
- Constant support for the Dominican community residing on the island.
- Promoting the cultural and social bonds that unite both peoples.
The appointment of Víctor Pichardo marks the beginning of a new stage in Dominican diplomatic representation in Puerto Rico, consolidating the Government’s commitment to efficient management for the benefit of our citizens abroad.
As this change is formalized through the corresponding decrees, it is expected to be known who will take over the leadership of the Airport Department, an institution that under Pichardo’s tutelage achieved significant progress in the country’s connectivity.
