Ulises Rodríguez oversees progress at the El Dorado Fire Station and works in Santiago
The mayor of Santiago, Ulises Rodríguez, conducted a supervision tour of the construction of the El Dorado Fire Department Central Station. During the inspection, the municipal executive confirmed that, after overcoming challenges related to the storm drainage in the area, work has intensified to finalize the infrastructure and definitively condition its surroundings.
Rodríguez emphasized that the resolution of the drainage system was an unavoidable priority, as recurrent flooding affected both residents and the operational viability of the future station. “Progress has already been made on the storm drainage work to collect water and avoid the large amount that used to accumulate here, creating a serious problem for residents and people passing through,” the mayor noted.

Urban transformation and space recovery
The municipal administration maintains an active schedule of visits to verify the development of multiple projects at strategic points in the city. Among the works supervised are:
- Interventions in Nueva York Chiquito and the Mirador del Yaque corridor.
- Sanitation and transformation of ravines in sectors such as Villa Olga, El Embrujo, and La Española.
- Recovery of green areas for the creation of recreational spaces and community parks.
- Housing solutions for families residing in intervened areas.
The mayor stressed that these actions are part of a comprehensive transformation plan that seeks to restore Santiago’s splendor. Rodríguez highlighted that, under his administration, the city has experienced notable changes in cleanliness, security, and tourism dynamism, allowing citizens to once again enjoy parks and public spaces that previously remained abandoned.
When responding about the pace of the work, the councilman defended the speed of the executions, recalling that many of these projects remained paralyzed for years without receiving attention. “The people elected me to work,” concluded Rodríguez, reaffirming his commitment to the continuous development of the province and the improvement in the quality of life for all residents of Santiago.
