UASD inaugurates the Félix Méndez Communication Hall for public policy debate
The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), through its Dominican Observatory of Public Policies, opened the Félix Méndez Communication Room this Friday. This new strategic environment has as its main objective to foster analysis, citizen participation, and technical debate on the projects that drive the development of the Dominican Republic.
The project, consolidated through a collaboration agreement with the National Lottery, is integrated into the academy’s research initiatives to bring scientific findings and impact studies closer to society in general.
A space for the integration of diverse sectors
Fernando Peña, coordinator of the Observatory, highlighted the relevance of this space as a bridge between academia and public management. According to the academic, the platform seeks for social actors to be actively involved in monitoring the State’s strategic plans.
The opening of this room is a special opportunity for the entire intervention of the academy and the scientific world regarding the analysis of reality and the monitoring of development plans, to allow social actors to empower themselves, become aware, intervene, and contribute to the process of building public policies.

Digital infrastructure and tribute to the career path
The Félix Méndez Communication Room is equipped with modern tools for the production of digital content and podcasts. Likewise, the future integration of a digital radio station is planned to expand the reach of research. The name of the space pays tribute to the journalist Félix Méndez, recognizing his work in favor of ethical communication committed to national interests.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by university authorities, led by the rector of the UASD, Jorge Asjana David, along with family members of the communicator and representatives from the professional and media sectors. With this action, the UASD reaffirms its role as a fundamental pillar in the social and academic life of the country, maintaining its historical legacy as the oldest university in the Americas since its founding in 1538.
