Rains persist in the Dominican Republic due to remnants of Dolly
Weather conditions in the Dominican Republic continue to be affected by moisture and cloud remnants left by the phenomenon previously classified as Tropical Storm Dolly. According to the most recent reports from the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), continuous rainfall is expected during the early morning and the first hours of this Tuesday.
Although the system has lost considerable strength, atmospheric instability will remain present across much of the national territory, causing downpours that could be accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional wind gusts.
Areas under surveillance and forecast
Specialist Damaris Mercedes detailed that the rains will be concentrated with greater intensity in the provinces near the Caribbean coastal littoral. Among the areas with the highest probability of precipitation are:
- Greater Santo Domingo
- San Pedro de Macorís
- La Altagracia
- San Cristóbal
- Monte Plata
- Samaná
Given this scenario, the authorities have established alert and warning levels to safeguard the population. Currently, Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, and Monte Plata remain under a warning, while eight other regions, including La Romana, Peravia, San Pedro de Macorís, and Samaná, remain under a preventive alert.
Rainy conditions will continue to affect different areas of the country during the early morning and morning, as long as the humidity linked to the remnants of Dolly remains.
From Alofoke Deportes, we recommend that the public stay informed through official channels and follow the recommendations of emergency agencies in the face of possible flooding or flash floods that could be generated by soil saturation following constant rains.
