National Police capture two youths for armed robbery in Santiago
National Police agents managed to arrest two young men in Santiago, who were actively sought through arrest warrants for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery. The individuals had reportedly stripped a couple of their personal belongings while they were traveling along the Gregorio Luperón Tourist Highway.
Details of the operation and those involved
The detainees were identified by the authorities as Branly Manuel Veras Torres, alias “Brayli Veras”, 22 years old, and Alfredo Acevedo Peña, 19 years old. Both were located and captured during patrol and intelligence operations carried out by uniformed officers in the Gurabo sector.
- Branly Manuel Veras Torres (22 years old): Identified as one of the main suspects.
- Alfredo Acevedo Peña (19 years old): Arrested along with his accomplice following operations in Gurabo.
Dynamics of the criminal act
The incident occurred on September 7th, around 7:40 at night, in the vicinity of the El Juvero sector. According to reports, the victims were traveling on a motorcycle when they were intercepted by the two individuals, who were traveling on another two-wheeled vehicle.
One of the assailants used a firearm to intimidate the couple, managing to steal two gold chains, one of which had a religious medal, before fleeing the scene.
Legal process in progress
The investigation was led by the Property Crimes Investigation Section, with the support of the Preventive Police. Following the capture, the youths were transferred to police facilities and will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office so that the corresponding coercive measures can be imposed and the judicial process can be deepened.
The authorities have reiterated that the investigations remain open to clarify all the details of the incident and determine if the detainees have participated in other similar criminal acts in the area.
