Two months of preventive prison ordered for Nino Dólar for fatal accident on Abraham Lincoln
The Fourth Chamber of the Special Traffic Court of the National District has issued a coercive measure of two months of preventive detention against Carlos José Troche Rodríguez, popularly known as Nino Dólar. The decision follows the tragic traffic accident recorded on August 15th on Abraham Lincoln Avenue, which resulted in the death of two people and left another with serious injuries.
After accepting the request presented by the prosecutors of the Department of Crimes and Offenses against the Person, the court ordered that the defendant serve said measure in the Cotuí public jail while investigations into the case proceed.
Details of the tragic event
The judicial file identifies Troche Rodríguez as the person responsible for the death of Wilmer Ernesto Rodríguez Silverio and his daughter, Wilkaren Massiel Rodríguez Batista. In the same incident, Arianna Michelle Ciprián was affected with various injuries. According to the authorities, the defendant allegedly violated Article 112, paragraph I, of Law 74-25, which sanctions aggravated homicide in the context of culpable attempts against life.
The investigation maintains that the driver, after ignoring the traffic signal, struck the motorcycle where the victims were traveling, dragging them along the public road before fleeing the crime scene.
Public Ministry Version
According to the version presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the events occurred when Troche Rodríguez, driving an SUV, ran a red light on the aforementioned avenue. The report highlights that, far from stopping to assist those affected after the collision, the driver continued on his way, dragging the victims and subsequently fleeing the scene of the incident.
These elements presented by the prosecution will be fundamental in the next stages of the judicial process, where the final criminal responsibility of the accused will be determined before the Dominican courts.
