Key move: Leones del Escogido acquire Dinelson Lamet
The Leones del Escogido have made a strategic move in their pitching staff by acquiring experienced right-handed pitcher Dinelson Lamet from the Águilas Cibaeñas. As part of the deal, the scarlet organization has traded left-handed reliever Génesis Cabrera, who will be part of the Cibao team from now on.
Lamet, 34, a native of Santiago de los Caballeros, brings a valuable track record of seven seasons in Major League Baseball. Throughout his time in U.S. baseball, where he played for teams such as the San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers, he recorded a 17-24 record with a 4.63 ERA and 474 strikeouts in 367.2 innings pitched.
Versatility and experience for the red mound
In the two most recent seasons, the right-hander has maintained his competitive pace in the Mexican Baseball League with El Águila de Veracruz, managing to accumulate eight wins and 136 strikeouts in 137.1 innings of work, keeping opposing batters to a .240 average.
With the acquisition of Lamet, we add an experienced pitcher with an impact arm and the ability to help us in different roles. Génesis is also an excellent pitcher whom we value highly, but we understood that this trade strengthens us and aligns with what we are looking to build on our team.
