Donald Trump nominates Kimberly Greenwood as ambassador to the Eastern Caribbean
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has made official this Monday the nomination of Kimberly Greenwood to hold the position of ambassador to Barbados and six other nations of the Eastern Caribbean. The proposal was formally sent to the Senate to begin the legislative confirmation process.
If ratified by the upper house, Greenwood will assume broad diplomatic responsibility. In addition to her primary role in Barbados, she will serve as the representative of the United States to Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, performing these duties without receiving additional compensation.
A close bond with the administration
Kimberly Greenwood is recognized for being the wife of famous country music singer Lee Greenwood, performer of the iconic patriotic song God Bless the USA. The relationship between the artist and President Trump is strong, with this song being a recurring piece at the president’s political events. Likewise, both have worked together on commercial projects, including the promotion of a special edition of the Bible.
The candidate has highlighted an 18-year history of collaboration with President Trump, dating back to her time leading the Miss Universe organization, where she held management roles in the state pageants.
