Weather forecast: Trough and Sahara dust affect the national territory this Friday
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued a detailed report on the weather conditions for this Friday. The presence of a trough will create an unstable environment with local downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts in various inland provinces, while the tropical wave that was affecting the country is gradually moving away, giving way to a higher concentration of Saharan dust.
Rainfall distribution
From the early hours of the morning, showers with isolated electrical storms are expected in the provinces of La Altagracia, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Barahona, and Pedernales. By the afternoon, atmospheric activity will intensify due to the influence of the trough, causing significant cloudiness.
- Affected areas: Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Duarte, La Vega, Espaillat, Santiago, and Santiago Rodríguez.
- Persistence: It is expected that the rainfall may continue until the beginning of the night.
Conditions in Greater Santo Domingo and temperatures
In Greater Santo Domingo, the outlook will be different with a predominance of scattered clouds. Despite the instability in other regions, the National District and the municipalities of the Santo Domingo province will maintain a hot environment with a high heat index. Minimum temperatures will range between 24 °C and 26 °C, while maximums will reach values between 34 °C and 36 °C.
Given the persistent heat, it is essential to stay hydrated, wear light-colored, lightweight clothing, and avoid direct sun exposure during the critical hours of 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
