Weather conditions: Trough and tropical wave will affect the Dominican territory
The weather outlook in the Dominican Republic remains active this Sunday due to the combination of a trough affecting the national territory and the movement of a tropical wave over the Atlantic. According to reports from Alofoke Deportes, these atmospheric conditions will lead to an increase in cloudiness and the occurrence of downpours accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts, especially during the afternoon.
The day is expected to begin with scattered showers in specific points of the northeast and southeast regions. However, it will be from midday onwards when daytime heating, combined with the instability of the trough, intensifies rainfall towards areas of the country’s interior, including sectors of Greater Santo Domingo, where North Santo Domingo presents a higher probability of precipitation.
Recommendations for extreme heat
Despite the presence of rain, temperatures will remain high, ranging between maximums of 34 °C and 36 °C, with minimums of 24 °C to 26 °C. Given this scenario, authorities suggest that citizens follow the following preventive measures:
- Maintain constant hydration through frequent water intake.
- Wear light-colored, lightweight clothing.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak intensity hours.
- Use adequate sun protection.
Monitoring of cyclonic systems
The meteorology team is keeping the development of two phenomena in the Atlantic under strict observation:
- Tropical wave: Moving from the west coast of Africa and showing potential for cyclonic development. It currently has a 10% probability in the next 48 hours and 50% over the course of the week.
- Area in Bermuda: There is a system of showers and thunderstorms southeast of Bermuda with a 50% probability of development, although, due to its location and current trajectory, it does not pose a direct threat to the Dominican Republic.
