Intense heat and scarce rainfall predominate this Monday in Dominican territory

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued its daily report, highlighting that for this Monday, a predominantly hot environment with limited rainfall is expected in most of the Dominican Republic. This atmospheric stability is caused by an air mass with low moisture content, added to the incidence of a moderate concentration of Saharan dust covering a large part of the national territory.

Rain forecast for the afternoon

Although much of the day will pass with mostly dry conditions, the occurrence of passing showers accompanied by possible thunderstorms during the afternoon cannot be ruled out. These meteorological activities would be concentrated mainly in the following provinces:

  • Monte Plata
  • Monseñor Nouel
  • La Vega
  • San Juan
  • Elías Piña

These conditions are expected to remain isolated until the early hours of the night, gradually dissipating as the early morning progresses.

Recommendations for high temperatures

Due to high temperatures and the high heat index, it is essential that citizens take preventive measures, maintaining constant hydration, wearing light-colored, lightweight clothing, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The meteorological agency placed special emphasis on the care of the most vulnerable groups, specifically children, pregnant women, and older adults, who are more prone to suffering complications derived from extreme heat.

Overview of Greater Santo Domingo

For Greater Santo Domingo, the report indicates a sky with slightly grayish tones due to Saharan dust and scattered clouds. Temperatures in the capital and surrounding areas will remain high, with minimums between 24 °C and 26 °C, while maximums will reach values between 33 °C and 35 °C.
