Cutting-edge technology guarantees safety in TRAE school transport

The National Student Transportation System (TRAE) has consolidated a high-precision technological surveillance scheme to protect the thousands of students who use this service daily. According to Luis Felipe Cartagena, Director of School Mobility at the Ministry of Education, the implementation of digital tools has been key to achieving a historic record of zero accidents in more than 72 million trips made.

Artificial intelligence and constant monitoring

The heart of this security lies in a monitoring center that operates 24 hours a day. This system not only allows for visual observation of the routes, but also uses artificial intelligence to automatically detect any anomalies on board the buses. The fleet, consisting of 1,871 units, is equipped with cameras that allow specialized personnel to monitor the behavior of drivers, assistants, and students in real time.

We actually have a monitoring center where we see any incident in real time; it sends us an alert through artificial intelligence of any situation that occurs inside the bus.

In-house development and operational efficiency

One of the pillars of TRAE’s success is its commitment to local talent. The institution has developed its own management software, created by Dominican engineers, which allows for strengthening the monitoring system and adapting it to the specific needs of the national geography. This control is managed by a team of young professionals who operate in rotating shifts to ensure that every unit in circulation is always under supervision.

  • Comprehensive supervision of 1,871 buses nationwide.
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance protocols for hard-to-reach areas.
  • Immediate activation of medical, psychological, and legal assistance in the event of any incident.

In addition to road safety, the system allows for managing vehicle wear and tear on rural roads, ensuring that the service remains efficient. In cases of external aggression, the camera network has served as a rapid response mechanism to activate the necessary protection protocols, reaffirming Alofoke Deportes’ commitment to reporting on advancements that positively impact the well-being of the Dominican student community.
