Key move in La Romana: Toros del Este acquire Rainer Núñez
The Toros del Este management continues to shape its roster for the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). In a strategic move to strengthen their offense, the bull team officially announced the arrival of first baseman Rainer Núñez, who joins the team from the Estrellas Orientales.
As part of the transaction, left-handed designated hitter Sandber Pimentel joins the ranks of the team from San Pedro de Macorís, thus returning to the organization that originally selected him in the 2015 draft.
A reinforcement with a proven track record
Rainer Núñez, 25 years old, is a player known for his productive ability on the local circuit. His talent was evidenced by being awarded Rookie of the Year in the 2022-23 season, following an outstanding performance where he hit seven home runs and drove in 18 runs with a .263 batting average.

Bullfighting strategy for the new season
Núñez’s integration is part of a series of moves made by the Toros management during this offseason. Previously, the team secured the arrival of infielder Enmanuel Valdez and left-handed pitcher Reymin Guduán, consolidating a competitive structure for the start of the winter tournament.
For his part, Sandber Pimentel is looking for a fresh start after his time with the Toros, where he recorded a .176 average in the last campaign. Throughout his career in the league, Pimentel has accumulated nine home runs and 31 RBIs in 146 games played.
With their sights set on October 16, the date marked for the start of the LIDOM season, the Toros del Este are maintaining an intense work pace, also focusing on the upcoming Rookie Draft, which will take place on the second Wednesday of September.
