Toros del Este strengthen their offense with the arrival of Rainer Núñez
The Toros del Este have completed a strategic move ahead of the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The organization announced the acquisition of first baseman Rainer Núñez, who arrives at the bull team from the Estrellas Orientales, in a trade involving left-handed designated hitter Sandber Pimentel.
This transaction seeks to strengthen the core of native players for the La Romana team, adding a slugger who already knows the terrain of Francisco Micheli Stadium well. In that setting, Núñez has demonstrated his offensive capacity by recording a .306 batting average and a .359 on-base percentage in 13 games played.
A proven talent in LIDOM
At 25 years old, Rainer Núñez has the backing of having been awarded Rookie of the Year during the 2022-23 campaign. In that tournament, the first baseman posted a .263 average, hitting seven home runs and driving in 18 runs. Throughout his four years in Dominican winter baseball, he has accumulated a total of nine home runs, 36 RBIs, and 74 hits.
We continue working on shaping the roster. He is a right-handed batter who provides balance to the number of offensive options the manager will have early in the season.

With this addition, the Toros del Este continue to adjust their roster for the tournament that will begin on October 16th. Núñez joins a list of moves made during the offseason, which also highlights the arrivals of infielder Enmanuel Valdez and left-handed pitcher Reymin Guduán.
For his part, Sandber Pimentel returns to the Estrellas Orientales organization, the team that originally selected him in the 2015 Draft. Pimentel closes his cycle with the Toros after participating in 26 games last season, accumulating a lifetime average of .216, nine home runs, and 31 RBIs in 146 games throughout his LIDOM career.
The Toros management maintains its focus on preparation, keeping its sights set on both the start of the championship and the upcoming Rookie Draft, scheduled for the second Wednesday of September.
