Dominican government to allocate more than RD$75 million in incentives to Santo Domingo 2026 medalists
The Government of the Dominican Republic has formalized an economic incentive plan exceeding RD$75 million, aimed at rewarding the outstanding performance of the athletes who reached the podium at the recently concluded XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. This investment, managed through the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec), seeks to recognize the effort and excellence of the athletes, coaches, and federations that held the country’s name high.
Breakdown of awards
The payment structure establishes a base investment of RD$75.5 million, a figure that will increase once the calculation for the technical staff is formalized. The budget breakdown is distributed as follows:
- Individual medalists: RD$53.7 million.
- Team sports: RD$18.4 million.
- National federations: RD$15.4 million.
For individual athletes, the incentive is set at RD$300,000 for each gold medal, RD$150,000 for silver, and RD$100,000 for bronze, with these amounts being cumulative for those who managed to reach the podium on multiple occasions.
Prominent figures and major beneficiaries
Sprinter Liranyi Alonso leads the list of the most awarded athletes after winning four gold medals in athletics (100m, 200m, 4×100 relay, and 4×100 mixed relay), which guarantees her a total incentive of RD$1.2 million. Other athletes with outstanding performances include water skier Paolo Pigozzi, with a total of RD$700,000, and tennis player Nick Hardt, who will receive RD$600,000 for his two gold medals.

Special recognition for women’s volleyball
Brenda Castillo, captain and libero of the national volleyball team, will receive not only the group incentive, but also additional rewards after being distinguished as best libero, best defender, and best receiver of the tournament. Cristóbal Marte, director of Women’s National Teams, confirmed that the team will receive an additional bonus equivalent to the Ministry of Sports award, added to RD$250,000 for each individual award obtained by the players.
Coach incentives
Coaches are also an essential part of this program. For every medal won by their pupils, they will receive RD$200,000 (gold), RD$100,000 (silver), or RD$75,000 (bronze). Unlike the athletes, coaches will receive the incentive based on the highest-value medal achieved by their athletes, ensuring an equitable reward scheme.
