Dominican Republic to host the 41st session of ECLAC
Santiago de los Caballeros is preparing to welcome delegations from 45 member states and 14 associate members during the 41st session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). The event, which will take place from October 7 to 9, has established itself as a key space for defining the economic and social strategies that will shape the future of the region.
The official inauguration will take place at the UTESA Convention Center, with the presence of President Luis Abinader and the Executive Secretary of ECLAC, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, along with international leaders seeking to chart a development path in the face of constant current geopolitical and technological changes.
Innovation and technology as pillars of growth
The meeting will address critical issues that impact the competitiveness of nations. The technical agenda has prioritized fundamental areas for regional modernization, among which the following stand out:
- Artificial intelligence and its impact on productivity.
- Digital transformation and the technological gap.
- Regional integration and economic cooperation.
- Fiscal sustainability and inclusive growth models.
The event represents a strategic opportunity to analyze how innovation and new technologies can become decisive tools to overcome the social and economic challenges facing our countries.
Dominican Republic assumes regional leadership
This edition has a special significance for the host nation, as the Dominican Republic will assume the presidency of ECLAC, a role it will hold until 2028. This position entails a direct responsibility in coordinating the regional development agenda, fostering dialogue and the search for consensus among member countries to strengthen cohesion in Latin America and the Caribbean.
During the three days of sessions, technical seminars, dialogues between foreign ministers, and meetings with the business sector will be held to evaluate productive perspectives. The event will conclude on October 9 with the approval of resolutions that will establish the organization’s work guidelines for the next cycle, reaffirming the Dominican commitment to regional progress.
