Leones del Escogido bolster their pitching with the arrival of Dinelson Lamet
The Leones del Escogido have made an official strategic move in their bullpen by acquiring right-handed pitcher Dinelson Lamet from the Águilas Cibaeñas. As part of this transaction, the scarlet team sent left-handed reliever Génesis Cabrera to the Águilas organization.
Lamet, 34, a native of Santiago de los Caballeros, brings a wealth of experience accumulated over seven seasons in Major League Baseball. Throughout his career at the highest level, he has worn the uniforms of the San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers, recording a 17-24 record with a 4.63 ERA and 474 strikeouts in a total of 367.2 innings pitched.
Recently, the pitcher has demonstrated his ability in the Mexican Baseball League with El Águila de Veracruz, where over the last two seasons he achieved eight wins and 136 strikeouts in 137.1 innings, holding opposing batters to a .240 batting average.
With the acquisition of Lamet, we add an experienced pitcher with an impact arm and the ability to help us in different roles. Génesis is also an excellent pitcher whom we value highly, but we understood that this trade strengthens us and aligns with what we are looking to build on our team.

A constantly evolving team
The Leones del Escogido front office has maintained an extremely active offseason, focusing on bolstering their roster to compete for the crown. The team has prioritized depth in both their native core and free agency.

The scarlet team, 18-time national champions, is preparing for the start of the 2026-27 LIDOM tournament, scheduled for October 16. The opening day will be a high-intensity duel at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, where the Leones will host the Tigres del Licey.
