One of those involved in violent assault on officers in Santiago identified
The National Police has taken an important step in the investigations into the recent assault that occurred in the southern area of Santiago, where a police officer and a member of the auxiliary force were stripped of their service weapons and the motorcycle they were patrolling on. According to the institution’s spokesperson, Diego Pesqueira, one of the alleged perpetrators of this criminal act has already been identified.
Details of the incident at Cerro Blanco
The incident took place during the early hours of Monday in the Cerro Blanco sector, near La Noriega. The uniformed officers moved to the scene after receiving reports that several individuals were holding a person under threat with firearms in the carport of a residence.
When attempting to intervene to thwart the assault, the officers were overwhelmed by the criminals, who, according to reports, were carrying long guns. Under intimidation, the antisocial individuals managed to strip the officers of their official equipment and their means of transport before fleeing.
The authorities are working intensely to locate and capture the identified suspect, while several individuals remain under investigation to determine their degree of involvement in this event.

- As part of the investigations carried out in the area, the authorities managed to recover a revolver that is being analyzed by the corresponding departments.
