SODOMEFyC promotes the future of primary care at its XV International Congress
The Dominican Society of Family and Community Medicine (SODOMEFyC) has reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in primary care during the inauguration of its XV International Congress. This event, which is taking place in Punta Cana from September 17th to the 19th, is shaping up to be a key meeting point to strengthen the role of the family physician in the national healthcare system.
Under the slogan “The power of a Resolutive Primary Care: Family, Community and high-impact diseases”, Dr. Wendy Rosario, president of the institution, highlighted the sustained growth of the specialty and the importance of offering comprehensive and humane responses to the Dominican population.

In her message, Dr. Meyer called on new generations of professionals not to lose the human essence in the era of technology and artificial intelligence. She stressed that, although digital advances are useful tools, they cannot replace active listening, empathy, and a deep knowledge of the patient’s personal history, factors that define the quality of family medicine.
