Social Security Law Reform: Government prepares comprehensive proposal
The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, reported that the Executive Branch is making significant progress in drafting a comprehensive reform bill for the Social Security Law. It is expected that this legislative piece will be submitted to the National Congress during the current legislative session for its due analysis and discussion.
Pacheco highlighted that the current system, governed by Law 87-01 for more than two decades, requires a profound update that allows for correcting historical deficiencies, improving transparency, and ensuring greater sustainability for the benefit of Dominican affiliates.
Initiative to protect medication coverage
Within the framework of these statements, the legislator referred to the bill presented by deputy Indhira De Jesús, which proposes that funds allocated for medication not used by Health Risk Administrator (ARS) affiliates should not be lost at the end of the year, but rather be cumulative.
The project was referred to the Social Security Commission. There we will see what treatment they give it and we could consider it separately or together with the Social Security Law reform.

The proposal by the legislator for Santo Domingo Oeste seeks to ensure that unconsumed balances remain available to users, thus facilitating access to prolonged treatments, unexpected diagnoses, or future health contingencies that require a greater financial investment.
