Tragedy in Santiago: Fisherman found lifeless after three days of searching in the Yaque del Norte river
The Santiago community is experiencing moments of deep sorrow after the discovery of the lifeless body of José Alcibiades, a 65-year-old fisherman who had been missing since last Sunday. The body was located this Wednesday in the waters of the Yaque del Norte River, specifically in a dam near the La Otra Banda floodgate.
The recovery operation was carried out by Civil Defense personnel, who managed to extract the remains amidst a scene marked by the grief of relatives and local residents who had gathered at the site due to the uncertainty of the case.
Chronology of a fatal outcome
José Alcibiades, who resided in the Pekín Cristo Rey sector, in the southern area of this city, left his home on Sunday morning with the intention of carrying out his usual activities. Upon not returning to his home, his relatives began an intense search effort that lasted for 72 hours.
The family was able to identify the body thanks to the clothing the fisherman was wearing at the time of his departure, confirming the painful news amidst the frustration over the tragic end.
