Decisive operation against noise pollution in Santiago
In a coordinated action to preserve public order and citizen tranquility, the National Police, in conjunction with the Alcoholic Beverage Control (COBA), carried out a broad operation in various sectors of Santiago. The result of these interventions was the closure of six commercial establishments and the seizure of 44 speakers that exceeded the permitted noise limits.
Strategic intervention against excessive noise
The authorities acted after receiving multiple complaints from citizens affected by noise pollution and the irregular occupation of sidewalks and public roads. The deployment included the participation of the Anti-Noise Operational Department 1, Lince units, Rapid Action, and members of the Preventive Police, who carried out exhaustive inspections at various points in the city.
The closed businesses were not only cited for exceeding permitted decibel levels, but also for lacking the necessary legal documentation for their operation. The confiscated sound equipment was transferred to the corresponding authorities for the relevant legal purposes.
Commitment to order and current regulations
- Comprehensive action: The operation sought to mitigate noise pollution and recover public spaces for free transit.
- Legal basis: The interventions are based on Law 64-00 on Environment and Natural Resources, as well as current regulations governing the use of common spaces.
- Continuity: The authorities have ratified that these types of supervision sessions will be maintained constantly throughout the province of Santiago.
Control actions will continue to be carried out to ensure compliance with regulations, reduce the impact of noise pollution, and ensure the well-being of residents in the city.
