San Carlos secures its first victory in the 2026 TBS District
The San Carlos club broke its losing streak this Saturday by imposing itself with authority against El Millón with a score of 83-64. This match, corresponding to the seventh date of the intergroup phase, marked an important milestone for the San Carlos team within the framework of the 50th Superior Basketball Tournament (TBS) of the National District.
With this result, San Carlos improves its record to 1-6 within group B, while El Millón, known as “El Yirec”, remains with a 2-4 mark in group A. The match was played at the Arena BanReservas Profesor Virgilio Travieso Soto, the main venue for the tournament that is celebrating its Golden Anniversary.
Protagonists on the court
The San Carlos offense was led by American reinforcement Malachi Richardson, who stood out with a brilliant performance of 33 points and seven rebounds. He was supported by local player Eddy Polanco with 22 points and Miguel “El Muñeco” Simón, who contributed 10 units and grabbed five rebounds.
On the El Millón side, efforts were led by Jessie Zarzuela with 17 points and five assists. Raymond Bastardo completed a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Andrés Fulgencio added 14 units to the losing cause.
The “Five Corners” team took control from the first half, managing to go into the break with a 38-32 lead, setting the pace that would lead them to their first win of the season.

The excitement of district basketball continues this Sunday with the eighth round of the intergroup phase. The day will begin at 4:00 in the afternoon with the matchup between San Lázaro and Los Prados. Subsequently, at 6:00 in the afternoon, the marquee clash will feature the clubs Bameso and Huellas del Siglo.
