Samaná Fire Departments promote 2026-2027 strategic training plan
With the goal of raising safety and emergency response standards, the various fire departments of the Samaná province have formalized a strategic alliance. This initiative seeks to implement an ambitious National and International Training Strategic Plan for the 2026-2027 period, focused on optimizing the operational and technical capacity of all their personnel.
The working group was led by Colonel Marcio Sirett, with the fundamental participation of Colonel Joel Morillo Álvarez, who serves as a consultant and strategic liaison for international relations management and the institutional agenda. The meeting was attended by the commanders of the detachments of Las Terrenas, Las Galeras, Arroyo Barril, Sánchez, and El Limón.
Key areas of the training program
The curriculum is designed to cover the most critical needs in claims handling and civil protection. Among the specialties included in the program are:
- Advanced firefighting.
- Fire analysis and behavior.
- Vehicle rescue techniques.
- Technical safety inspection in public spaces.
- Scientific fire investigation.
- Comprehensive emergency prevention and response protocols.
The academic agenda is scheduled to begin in November 2026, extending throughout the entire year of 2027. This offering will include national training sessions, academic exchanges, and international internships that will allow Dominican firefighters to acquire cutting-edge experiences.
The professionalization and dignification of our firefighting personnel is the direct path toward a coordinated and efficient response, guaranteeing greater safety for the entire province of Samaná and its visitors.

Call for provincial collaboration
The leaders of the fire departments called on various sectors of society, including business owners, merchants, government authorities, and the tourism sector, to join as allies in this project. According to the chiefs, the institutional strengthening of the fire departments is an indispensable pillar for the safe development of the region, requiring joint support to ensure the sustainability of these resources and technical capabilities.
