A meteoric rise in the Major Leagues

The initial investment of US$685,000 made by the organization to secure his services stands out as one of the wisest decisions, highlighting the high development potential the player has exhibited since signing.

Skills that stand out on the field

Álvarez has impressed evaluators thanks to a balanced set of tools. According to the 20-80 scale used in the system, the outfielder has grades of 55 in hitting, 60 in speed, and 55 in defense. His main strengths include:

  • Excellent plate discipline and ability to identify pitches.
  • Ease in drawing walks and reducing swinging strikes.
  • Great aggressiveness and speed on the basepaths, reaching 53 stolen bases this season.
  • Athletic versatility that makes him a natural candidate to cover center field at the highest level.

One of the most impressive statistics from his campaign was the figure of 108 runs scored, the second-highest amount recorded by any player in the entire minor league system. With three consecutive seasons surpassing 30 stolen bases, Álvarez demonstrates a consistency that excites the Angels’ fanbase and Dominican baseball.
