Medical care strengthened in Las Terrenas with new specialized unit
The executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Julio Landrón, led the inauguration of the new Comprehensive Health Care Service for Adolescents this Saturday. This modern unit was enabled within the facilities of the Dr. Pablo Antonio Paulino Municipal Hospital, located in the municipality of Las Terrenas, Samaná province.
The main objective of this project is to provide specialized care adapted to the specific needs of the youth population, thereby reinforcing the care center’s response capacity to the demands of adolescents in the area and its surrounding communities.
Commitment to efficiency and infrastructure improvements
During the event, the head of the SNS addressed priority issues for the hospital’s operation. Landrón acknowledged the need to optimize the center’s air conditioning and assured that the relevant steps are already being taken to resolve this problem and guarantee an adequate environment for patients and staff.
The official was emphatic in requesting that the medical and administrative team strictly comply with their schedules and responsibilities. He warned that administrative measures, which could lead to the termination of contracts, will be applied to those employees who incur repeated absences from their work shifts.

After the formal ceremony, Dr. Landrón conducted an exhaustive tour of the hospital’s various departments to assess the state of the facilities and listen to the needs of the healthcare staff. Prominent figures were present at the event, including:
- Doctor Rodríguez, regional director of the SNS.
- Doctor Santiago Hidalgo, director of the Dr. Pablo Antonio Paulino Municipal Hospital.
- Teodora Mullix Geraldino, governor of Samaná.
- Cecilio García, deputy.
- Doctor Demetrio Vicente, director of the National Council for the Elderly (CONAPE).
This initiative reaffirms the health authorities’ commitment to decentralizing specialized services and improving the quality of life for the inhabitants of the country’s northeastern region.
