Reinas del Caribe start with absolute dominance in the Norceca Qualifier
The Queens of the Caribbean have begun their journey in the Norceca Women’s Volleyball Championship Qualifier with a commanding performance. The Dominican team defeated Costa Rica in straight sets (3-0), making their goal of successfully defending the regional title clear.
The match, played in Santo Domingo, was a monologue by the locals, who prevailed with set scores of 25-11, 25-11, and 25-10. The superiority was so marked that the match was resolved in just 54 minutes of play, allowing the coaching staff to rotate their roster and rest several of their star players.
Stellar offense and dominance statistics
Despite the variations in the lineup, the Dominican offense proved relentless. Flormarie Heredia led the attack with 18 points, closely followed by Alondra Tapia, who added 16 units, and Massiel Matos, who contributed 14 points to the final score.

The Dominican superiority was reflected in every facet of the game: they dominated in attacks 44-12, recorded 14 service aces against zero for their opponents, and were superior at the net with a 6-2 lead in blocks.
On the Costa Rican side, María del Sol Venegas was the most active player with five goals, in a match where the Dominican defense neutralized any attempt at a comeback.

After this resounding debut, the Queens of the Caribbean are preparing for their next commitment on the calendar. The Dominican team will face Cuba this Saturday, August 22nd at 8:30 PM, seeking to remain undefeated in this qualifying tournament.
