Azua kicks off the 2026-2027 school year with educational commitment

The Regional Directorate of Education 03, based in Azua, marked this Monday the official start of the 2026-2027 school year. The inaugural ceremony took place at the Juan Bautista Marte educational center, where educational authorities, provincial officials, teachers, and an enthusiastic student representation gathered.

The event was led by Jorge Antonio de los Santos, regional director of Education 03, together with Marino Lebrón, director of the 03-01 Educational District. Both officials took the opportunity to evaluate the progress of the local educational system and highlight the challenges facing the current administration.

Comprehensive student support

During his speech, De los Santos highlighted the efforts made under the administration of President Luis Abinader, aimed at ensuring that the return to the classrooms takes place under optimal conditions. Among the priority actions for this period are:

  • Mass delivery of updated textbooks.
  • Provision of uniforms and footwear for students.
  • Distribution of school supply kits to ease the economic burden on Azuan families.

The goal is to facilitate the access and retention of our youth in the classrooms, ensuring they have the necessary tools to reach their full academic potential.

A call for unity for education

The ceremony was supported by prominent figures of provincial public life, including Governor Minerva Navarro, Senator Lía Díaz, Mayor Rafael Hidalgo, and Deputy Grey Pérez. The presence of these authorities reaffirms the commitment of the various sectors of the province to the strengthening of public education.

The central call of the day was directed toward the educational community as a whole: parents, teachers, and guardians were urged to maintain an active role in the formative process. According to the authorities, the success of the 2026-2027 school year depends on the synergy between the State, families, and teaching staff.

With the return of thousands of students to classrooms in Regional 03, a new educational chapter opens in Azua. This school year presents itself as a key opportunity to consolidate previous achievements, improve school infrastructure, and continue raising quality standards in student learning across the region.
