The renowned Dominican artist based in Mexico, Ramón Glass, popularly known as the leader of Merenglass, has taken a significant step in his role as a writer. This Thursday, he officially presented his book titled “How to understand today’s diplomacy,” a work that analyzes the current challenges of international relations, geopolitics, and the importance of a culture of peace.

A bridge between music and society

With more than four decades of artistic career, Glass seeks to connect his experience on stage with his academic research work. His goal is to inspire new generations by using his cultural reach to disseminate tools that favor the development of a more just and harmonious society.

“When from the stage you can motivate people to jump and dance, but also to reflect on tools to improve society, that is where I manage to connect with young people,” explained the author.

Educational proposal: diplomacy from the classroom

One of the central points raised by the book is the need to integrate citizen diplomacy into educational systems. According to the interpreter, training in peaceful coexistence should begin at an early age.

  • Ethics and civics: Fundamental bases for citizen behavior.
  • Peace education: Orientation towards mutual understanding.
  • Dialogue as a tool: Learning techniques for conflict resolution.

The presentation featured the participation of Samuel Esteban Peña Valdez, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Mexico, who praised Glass’s multidisciplinary vision, highlighting his ability to intertwine art, history, and international politics.

The event, which brought together various personalities, including the mayor of Santo Domingo, Carolina Mejía, concluded with the delivery of copies to the Library of the Catholic University of Santo Domingo, reaffirming the artist’s commitment to strengthening knowledge and culture in his homeland.
