Punta Rucia unveils a modern photo spot to boost tourism in Puerto Plata
The Ministry of Tourism, under the leadership of David Collado, has inaugurated a new photographic viewpoint at Punta Rucia beach, in the province of Puerto Plata. This project is part of the strategic plan for the recovery of public spaces and waterfronts that seeks to increase the appeal of Dominican destinations.
With a total investment of RD$10,822,480, the project was executed through the Executing Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR). The intervention covers an area of 352 square meters, within an area of influence of 1,391 square meters, designed to become a visual icon that identifies this area as a world-class destination.
Infrastructure details and urban improvements
- Construction of a city brand sign in reinforced concrete.
- Paving, reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs.
- Installation of street furniture, road signage, and trash cans.
- Landscaping, gardening, and lighting works for greater safety and aesthetics.
- Implementation of ground cover for coastal edge protection.
This new parador not only provides identity to Punta Rucia, but it represents the beginning of a series of transformations aimed at enhancing the surroundings of this area, considered the main gateway to the famous Cayo Arena.

Impact on the community and local tourism
Residents and merchants in the area have welcomed the work with enthusiasm, highlighting that it is the first time a Minister of Tourism has personally visited the beaches of Punta Rucia and La Ensenada to address their needs. This area, located 70 kilometers from the city of Puerto Plata, is a key hub for nature tourism and maritime excursions.
The Ministry of Tourism continues to work on diversifying the Dominican offering, promoting emerging destinations and improving basic infrastructure to ensure that the country remains an undisputed leader in the Caribbean region.
