Santiago Riverón leads citizen security operation in Dajabón
The mayor of Dajabón, Santiago Riverón, took the reins of security in the municipality by leading a surveillance operation in various sectors of the border area. This initiative arises as a direct response to the increase in reports of robberies, muggings, and other issues affecting the peace of mind of local residents.
The operation, which covered streets, parks, and commercial establishments, was carried out by Municipal Police officers and a group of volunteers committed to the citizen security program promoted by the mayor’s office.
These entities, which have the responsibility of ensuring citizen security and controlling migratory flow, stepped aside in the face of the serious problems that afflict us.

Interventions and migration control
During the deployment, municipal authorities proceeded to detain several citizens of Haitian nationality who, according to the official report, were in an irregular migratory status. These individuals were placed at the disposal of the General Directorate of Migration so that said institution may proceed in accordance with current laws.
In addition to immigration control, the operation focused on:
- Supervision of commercial establishments operating under irregularities.
- Intervention in areas identified for prostitution activities.
- Recovery of public spaces for the healthy recreation of the community.
Commitment to municipal security
Mayor Riverón emphasized that the city council will not cease in its efforts to maintain order in Dajabón. Despite questioning the lack of support from state agencies, the municipal executive reaffirmed his stance to continue these patrols consistently.
We will not stop; the citizenry demands action and we are responding.
Santiago Riverón
As of the closing of this edition, the authorities of the National Police and the General Directorate of Migration have not issued statements in response to the allegations made by the mayor regarding their absence from the operation.
