Rain forces the postponement of the duel between Estrellas and Águilas in Santiago once again
Inclement weather has once again taken center stage in the 2026-2027 LIDOM season. The matchup between the Estrellas Orientales and the Águilas Cibaeñas, scheduled for this Monday at Estadio Cibao, was suspended for the third time due to the constant rainfall affecting the ‘Ciudad Corazón’.
This match, which had already been attempted to be held on previous dates such as October 21 and 26, still cannot be finalized. After an inspection of the field, the referee team led by Rodolfo García determined that the conditions were not suitable to guarantee the safety of the players or the optimal development of the game.
The decision was made by mutual agreement after evaluating the state of the field, with the presence of executives Héctor Borg, on behalf of the visitors, and Luis “Pipe” Urueta, who commands the Aguilas squad.
Next steps in the calendar
The Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) is working on restructuring the schedule to assign a new date for this game, which will be officially communicated to the fans in the coming days.
It is worth remembering that this season is dedicated to the memory of the businessman from San Francisco de Macorís, Héctor José Rizek Llabaly. Despite this setback, both teams remain focused on the competition and have already marked their next appointment on the diamond:
- The matchup between Estrellas Orientales and Águilas Cibaeñas is scheduled to resume this Wednesday, November 4th.
- The “play ball” call is set for 7:30 PM at Cibao Stadium.
