The Queens of the Caribbean keep their Olympic dream alive after a stumble against Canada
In a bittersweet day for Dominican volleyball, the senior women’s national team, known as the Queens of the Caribbean, fell to Canada with a score of 3-1. This result in the decisive duel for the direct NORCECA ticket to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games forces the tricolor team to redirect its qualifying strategy toward other international tournaments.
The match, which was decided in four sets, showed a Canadian team with great dominance on the court. After an intense dispute, the visitors sealed their Olympic qualification with a resounding 25-13 in the final set, thus achieving their return to the most important multi-sport event in the world since their last appearance in Rio 2016.

Despite this setback, the road to Los Angeles 2028 remains open for the Dominican team. The FIVB qualification system is extensive and provides various opportunities to fill the 12 spots available for the women’s tournament:
