Security reinforced in Navarrete following incidents during 48-hour strike
The Director General of the National Police, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, traveled this Tuesday to the municipality of Villa Bisonó, in Navarrete, Santiago, with the objective of personally supervising the security strategies implemented in response to the work stoppage called by popular organizations in the area.
This intervention comes at a critical moment, after it was confirmed that Dominican Republic Army private, Omar Peña Pérez, was injured in one of his arms during the riots that have marked the day of protests in the municipality.

During his tour of the strategic points of the town, Major General Cruz Cruz addressed the deployed troops, urging them to maintain a balance between the firmness necessary to preserve order and strict respect for the fundamental rights of citizens. The high command emphasized the importance of guaranteeing security, the protection of businesses, and free transit in the municipality.

Context of the demonstrations
The municipality of Navarrete is maintaining a 48-hour strike in which various social groups are demanding attention to basic needs that affect the community. Among the main demands are:
- Substantial improvements in the drinking water supply.
- Optimization of the electrical energy service.
- Definitive relocation of the municipal landfill.
The security operation is coordinated by high-ranking officials, including General Jesús R. Tejada Tejada, regional director of Cibao Central, and General Ángel García Jaime, director of Intelligence (DINTEL). The law enforcement institution reaffirmed that its main mission is to maintain social peace and ensure that demonstrations do not exceed legal limits or affect the integrity of residents.
